Your loads

Selected load

What these mean

Group size: your typical 5-shot group. Velocity SD comes from your chronograph. Min impact speed: the slowest speed your bullet still expands at (Barnes TTSX is usually quoted at 1800 fps; many hunters use 2000). Temp change: how much faster your ammo gets per degree warmer, about 0.5 to 2 fps.

Turn on advanced settings (Settings tab) for sight height, twist, bullet length, group size and temperature sensitivity.

Range day

Check my zero

How this works

Shoot a group at a known distance, measure where its centre landed, and this tells you which way to turn the turrets.

True your load

How this works

Step 1, at 500 to 700 yd: enter the range and the elevation that hit center to fix your velocity. Step 2, at 900 yd or more: do the same to fine-tune the BC. Step 2 also matches another app or table. Both save to this load.

Compare at target

Results are a model, not a guarantee. Chronograph your own muzzle velocity and confirm drops on paper at distance, then true the load so the card matches. Coriolis and wind are integrated with the flight in three dimensions. Spin drift and aerodynamic jump use Bryan Litz's published approximations, and stability uses the Miller twist rule, which reads slightly low for polymer-tipped bullets. Published BCs referenced to Army Standard Metro air read about 1.8% low here; truing removes that.

Today's conditions

59°F, sea level, 0% humidity, no wind, level: what makers' drop tables assume.

Hit chance, truing, scope height, twist, pressure, long-range effects, charts. Off keeps every screen short.

Hit chance

How this works

A broadside deer's heart-lung zone is about 10 inches, elk about 14; use 8 for a strict standard. Errors are typical (one standard deviation) misses. Hit chance comes from 3,000 simulated shots at each distance, including click rounding, and the readout says which error costs you the most. Max ethical range is the farthest shot that still meets your minimum hit chance and impact speed.

Long-range effects

Spin drift and aerodynamic jump need the load's twist and bullet length.
